Conclusion / Assessment

This one-of-a-kind custom theater must be seen and heard to truly appreciate! I have never driven this system to distortion at sound pressure levels exceeding 125 db. The system comes with a detailed schematic far all wiring details as well as a Power Point Presentation as a tutorial for system features and use. If you are a music aficionado and ready for your Theater experience extraordinaire, come see and hear this one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art theater system for yourself.

Even more high end equipment

Other equipment in the system includes 4 dual channel power amps for future multi-zone audio throughout the home. Among the equipment line-up is included a TEAC dual well CD burner, Marantz 6-Disc Changer, and Philips Digital-to-Analog converter to provide analog-to-digital conversion via fiber-optic feeds for all analog sources.

Post-processing = Music Purity

As if this were not enough, the individual channel outputs from the Onkyo 7.1 processor are all converted to "balanced" feeds for low noise, routed through independent Art Tube pre-Amplifiers to "warm-up" the sound, cascaded to 8 individual 1/3 octave EQs for each respective channel, and then into the dual 7-channel Atlantic Technology Amplifiers. Yes, this incredible, musically pure, jaw-dropping theater experience is powered by 14 channels of clean power. This system boasts independent APS Theater surge protectors, one dedicated to protecting the left channel amplification while the second protects all of the right-side amplification. Two dedicated power feeds service each surge unit so that both are fed by its own totally isolated 20-amp power source leaving the system never starved for power. The Projector has its own PanaMax unit with video noise filtering and fed back to the main surge units for video/power back-up surge protection.

4800 watts

The Theater system boasts over 4800 watts of total power. The amplification sources include 2 separate 7-channel amplifiers by Atlantic Technology, an Atlantic Technology Sub-woofer processor driving 4 powered subwoofers ( 2 for the front and center channel LFE information and 2 down-firing subwoofers accentuating the base information from the side and rear channels positioned in the back of the room ). The dual Left/Right bi-amped front channels are driven by custom horn-loaded speakers with dual woofers in the upper/lower cabinets to form a D'Appolito Array hidden behind grille cloth fabric in the custom cabinets. Dual Center Channel speakers flank the 82" screen with 2 Architectural In-Ceiling pivoting speakers in the soffit above the screen, as well as, independent Center Channel left/right speakers on either side of the screen hidden behind grille cloth as well. The In-Wall Bi-Polar/Di-Polar Side Surround speakers as well as the over-head back Surround speakers are also Atlantic Technology architectural speakers. The 4 Back surround speakers are appointed with dual channel tweeters and positioned strategically over the theater seating to provide true stereo back channels for each respective viewing position. The side/back surround speakers are painted in matching Ralf Lauren Faux Suede finish to help speakers blend into walls/ceiling.

Brain-Trust of the Theater

The brain-trust of the Theater is a THX Select Onkyo 7.1 Surround Receiver used strictly as the system's pre-amp processor. The Onkyo Receiver has 3 HDMI 1.3 capable inputs with 2 HDMI outputs. Upconversion of all video inputs to HDMI 1920 X 1080p output is also featured. This receiver touts all the latest surround formats thru its HDMI connections such as Dolby Digital HD, DTS HD, All channel stereo, as well as, numerous Dolby Prologic and Dolby Digital conversion for 5.1 information to transform to 7.1 surround. The video experience can only be appreciated from one of the theater's 5 custom reclining chairs. The system boasts 1920 X 1080p resolution from a Panasonic PAE2000U triple panel LCD projector with 3 HDMI inputs. The video engine in the Panasonic HD Projector also supports 1920 X 1080p 24 fps information. The image is projected onto an 82" 16 X 9 format Stewart Film Screen Fire-Hawk silver screen with hi-gain for optimal image on-and-off axis viewing. The screen discretely hides away in the custom soffit atop the center component cabinet. System video sources include a Playstation 3 game console with integrated Blu-Ray player, 2 controllers, and a Blue-Tooth remote, a Toshiba HD-DVD player, as well as a separate Panasonic Blu-Ray Player. A fourth video component, a Hi-Def Dish Network Receiver, rounds-out the viewing sources all of which are custom switched through the Onkyo Receiver's HDMI Inputs via the Niles IntelliControl One-Touch animation. All video sources are fed to the Panasonic Projector via 1 HDMI cable for seamless video viewing and lipsync correction.
